The annual footfall in Tirupathi is close to 19 million, and with a paucity of adequate
infrastructure and hotels to support such a huge number of visitors.
|
|
New projects and investments in the Tirupathi STA are expected to find large existing
market with a desire to participate in these activities and an ability to spend
on accommodation, food and beverage, shopping, leisure, recreation and entertainment.
However, due recognition may need to be made of the socio-economic classes of visitors
and their spending power. |
|
The demand for tourist facilities in and around Tirupathi is expected to increase
even further in the coming years, when the maximum daily capacity of the shrine
at Tirumala viz. 75,000 is expected to be reached. This is expected to require visitors
to stay for longer periods at Tirupathi while awaiting their turn for Darshan at
the temple.

The policy envisages that Tirupati should be developed as a Tourism centre. In view
of the same, the major industries are primarily restricted to Gajulamandyam and
Renigunta industrial estates having an area 839.50 acres. It is proposed to encourage
cottage industries and electronic and software industries which are non-polluting
in nature and can create large employment to the local residents. |
