URBAN FORESTRY

A. Objectives

To make Tirupati Urban agglomeration a green town with Massive plantation program.
To create a Mass movement to raise seedlings on all vacant lands.
Increasing the aesthetic beauty of the area and thereby improving the environment and quality of life for the citizens of the temple town.
To improve productivity of existing waste lands and the lands earmarked for greenery of Tirupati Urban Development Authority area.
Recharging the depleting water table thereby overcoming the ever increasing water scarcity.
Prevention of silting upto tanks and controlling encroachments.
Climate amelioration in Temple town
To check encroachments of open waste lands.

B. Strategy

To have a minimum of 1/3rd of the total land area under tree cover in the entire area of 847.00 sq. kms. of T.U.D.A.
To take up a massive need based and time bound program of aforestation and tree planting on all degraded and denuded lands.
To take up and encourage planting of trees along roads sides, canal and tank bunds Government and private institutions and home.
To improve the habitat for the endemic flora and provide safe corridor for the migrating fauna.
To include a feeling of have and passion for all the living being specially the flora and fauna, a gift of native, among the bublic by way of creating awareness.
To increase the aesthetic beauty of the area specially along the avenues by way of creating recreation.
