PROMOTING SPORTS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

The Authority is conducting cultural programs on festivals like Sankranthi and
Ugadi in Indira Maidhanam, encouraging women by presenting gifts for traditional
dress, conducting ‘Muggula’ competitions, etc., A traditional dance on Lord Venkateswara
by Mrs.Hemamalini and her daughters was organized on 29 -3-06 for the pleasure and
entertainment of public.

Kabbaddi is a rural game mainly played on the occasion of Sankranthi. The Authority
giving much important to traditional values conducted Kabbaddi tournaments once
in January 2005 and again in February 2006 by inviting the teams National wide both
men and women matches were conducted from legue level to finals and prizes were
given to the winners. All the matches were conducted in Indira Maidhanam during
the day and nights also arranging flood lights. The people were provided recreation
and relief from mental worries for a week’s period.
