PROMOTING SPORTS AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
| Unvieling of M/s Subba lakshmi statue was followed by Tirupati Utsavam from 29-5-06 to 31-5-06 celebrated jointly by TUDA and TTD. The utsavam
was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on 28-5-06. It was like Sankaranthi came again in the middle of the year for Tirupati people. The
utsavam focused on the history of development of Tirupati town, kings of Pallava Saluva, Thuluva etc., who visited Tirumala and their contribution for
development of the temple. |
| The preparations for utsavam began on 13-5-06 at Annamayya circle infront of the statue of the poet devotee of Lord
Venkateswara Sri Annamayya . From that day onwards different processions like folk dances and music, women in traditional dress with lights in
hands etc., took place on the streets of town every day till the actual utsavam began. The entire town was flooded with full of banners, display boards,
postures explaining the history of the town. |

Many arches were constructed and a huge arch similar to Ananda Nilayam of Tirumala temple
constructed over the dias in Indira Maidhanam was a major attraction among all. An Exhibition was conducted in Municipal office premises
displaying all photos explaining the growth of the town since two hundred years. Debates on development of the town, history of the temple etc., were
conducted during day time at Mahathi Auditorium.

The cultural programs on Lord Venkateswara and development of town by Mrs Auruna Bikshu
and Mr. Biskshu from Hyderabad during the nights were ever lasting in the memories of people. |

| Unvieling the statues of Sri Sankarambadi Sundarachari and Sri Krishna Devarayulu were followed by Telugu Sahithi Varostavams Sanskrithika
Varostavams conducted by TUDA in Mahathi Auditorium. The theme of conducting them was to improve the human values in the people and respect
to our Mother tongue Telugu. The poets like Sri Dasarathi Rangacharya, Aurudra, Thanikellabarani, Pulikanti Krishna Reddy etc., were invited and
debates were conducted.
